A simple explanation of perception: The world we perceive is always in equilibrium. This video explains the non-fixity of the world using a shadow.

I like this video because it changed the way I look at the world. I have always felt that I am a ready-made “fixed” person that exists now, existed yesterday, and will exist in the future, this same person. But Bhante points out that there are no fixed entities in this world. When the causes come together, an effect manifests each and every moment. We are human being meaning each and every moment we are being made as long as the causes come together. These causes are not the same and changes moment to moment. Such a simple yet deep concept when applied, I feel a lot of our unnecessary suffering and grief we experience in life could be eliminated, enabling you to live in the present moment. Please share any other thoughts/comments.

Thankyou Watsal for posting this intriguing truth. Thought of adding something else to this thread and feel free anyone to comment your thoughts/feedback…

This concept of ‘change’ i.e. to say something has changed, can only be applied when there is a concept of a ‘fixed’ thing/entity. For something to change, there had to be a ‘thing’ which was existing. For example I feel like I’m a fixed person, that there is a ‘me’ which is trotting along time. And along this time dimension, I say I have changed over a x number of years. But this ‘change’ can only be said if there was a reference fixed thing, thus possessing a capability for change, which is my ignorant feeling but the reality is like the manifestation of the shadow which bhante demonstrates. The reality has no fixed things but because of ignorance of not seeing this clearly, the perception becomes one continuous event instead of billions of manifesting events that are arising. So my conclusion here is there is actually no such thing as a change, only reason we see change is because of a misguided perspective, and thus we suffer as a result of thinking change is happening…

Not sure if that made any sense ahah but appreciate anyones thoughts
